Asanoha — Hemp Leaf

The hemp leaf motif appears in Buddhist scrollwork as a symbol of radiating light.

It was traditional for Japanese newborns to be swaddled in fabric bearing this design — a blessing that the child would grow as strong and resilient as the hemp plant itself.
